The most obvious change is that this edition has a distinctly international flavor. Skeletal trauma is an international discipline, and surgeons from many parts of the world have contributed to the new ideas and techniques detailed in this book. Much of the current cutting edge research and technology changing the face of orthopaedic trauma care originates from Europe, Australia, Asia, and South America. Nineteen of the authors (from eight different countries) are based outside the United States. We believe that this broadens and improves the scope of the book. It will also ensure that Rockwood and Green remains the first reference for orthopaedic trauma care for the estimated 175,000 practicing orthopaedic surgeons in the world.
